Sleep as a contributor to wellbeing

Everyone sleeps, including animals. We cannot operate without it. While we are awake, our brains are constantly at work, monitoring the constant flow of information and guiding our actions. This would not be possible without sleep - a moment for the brain to rest, clean up, sort and archive past events.

Have you ever wondered what really happens in your body when you sleep? Even though you don't do anything consciously while sleeping, there are many internal processes going on in your body that help you feel good the next day. From the following picture you can see the effects of sleep on different organ systems.
